I decided not to write in this blog before September 8.
But here I went to see the movie "Player" with Sandrine Bonnaire and Kevin Klein.
And there are moments in life that make you change your path.
In fact it is a beautiful story in which two dominant words: love and passion.
The chess game is in the background which blends the sensuality of the personalities and characters. I was quite skeptical
before seeing the film I could not think how it was possible to feel the passion of failures through such a scenario.
I was expecting a cheesy movie "the French" where we find the eternal trio of bad taste, cuckold husband, wife and lover.
But I told myself: I go and if that does not please me I will leave before the end.
is also like that I deal almost all movies I do not know the end for most.
Not only I stayed longer but I'll go see this movie again.
Friends chess enthusiasts do not expect to find in this film a detailed explanation of the Sicilian Dragon with all its variants.
No, it's a film of atmosphere, an ambience that reconciles with the sensual pleasure of the film to be savored like a fruit through thousand small gestures, a thousand attitudes, interspersed with the familiar sounds of the chess clock and silences, glances punctuate a party with music and great sensitivity that gives us the impression of touching the chess pieces.
Through the eyes drift slowly after the camera is the tension that exists between the protagonists of a chess game that is expressed.
It's also a great social panorama that teaches us this: regardless of social background can change her life for her dreams and count against the other in deciding to indulge in a passion.
And in this film that passion is the game of chess.
But I have the humility not to reduce everything to failure because it could be any other passion.
is what makes the extraordinary intellectual richness of this film and that is why we do not miss ever.
Anyone parties have crossed the humble origins of their passion caps will recognize this fresco they are athletes and artists and scientists. But precisely
failures are both a sport, an art and a science.
The heroine, Helen is played by Sandrine Bonnaire maid daily and saw a common and dispassionately along with her husband and daughter.
until she undergoes the thunderbolt of the game by watching a chess game between two lovers.
From that moment his life will be transfigured.
I will not recount the details of the scenario but Helen, the maid will dare to ask one of his bosses, Dr. Kröger (Kevin Klein) it apprendre à mieux jouer .

D'abord méprisant il finira par éprouver de l'estime envers Hélène, crossing social barriers are being destroyed as a shield from castling.
But this will also believes he will respect that which has been able to bring the movement in this piece.
In the room motionless parts of the game come to life and life is reborn at Kroger.
After every game even lost hope of revenge reborn.
So he took no less than thirty conres drawn games to Karpov Kasparov manages to swing the fate in his favor.
The attraction that Helen and Doctor will toward each other through the game failure will be stronger than the desire they might have to engage in adultery. (One can imagine the art of film but what is suggested is stronger than what is shown as in chess the threat and often more important than the attack).
The husband of Helen, Angel (Francis Renaud) is jealous but it evolves and discovers that it is not Dr. Kröger but the passion for chess, which came as a third person in the couple.
In this film, no sexcapades between Kroger and Helen, not by morality but by aesthetics: it is that which transcends the desire as a map of the tender and its climax when Helen and Kröger will recite a game of chess by simply looking and without chessboard with which the Kama Sutra would seem out of the stone age compared to the sensuality of this report so much.
The great merit of the filmmaker was not to deflect the story in a simple story canapée promotion because it would have broken all the sensuality all diagonal emanating from this film.
This is really about the woman who lives and not be in this movie: the queen who takes charge of its destiny. (I prefer to subject the women's title the film where reference is made to "The Queen").
Now the Queen is used here but equality of opportunity that gives Kröger through the game it also gives back to the force.
This is one reason why in my comments on this blog I call most often the Lady by the name "Queen" in violation of uses chess in France.
This is not an error but a desire for liberation.
But there is no feminist overtones in the movie because the shades are in the evolution of male personalities and never fall into the register of Manichean.
is also a great strength of the director not to issue a feminist message, but rather a message of empowerment almost universal.
There are evocations Cinderella found her Prince Charming in the person of Kröger. Part
he recite a poem without equipment is in love but were afraid to say.
Helen is happy and Angel who loves his wife and it is again the eye of the lover, not the husband, understands this: he has no hold on the game: it broke his head and his Happiness is to witness the ascension of his wife who won his first tournoi en repensant comme par télépathie aux paroles du Docteur.
Merci à tous, aux actors, Caroline Bottaro, director who signs a master stroke for his first feature film
For failures have power over our daily dull: a power Named Desire.
hope that this film may give birth to many vocations.
